Associate Counsel - Contracts
Reporting to the our client's ("the company") General Counsel, the Associate Contracts Counsel will draft, negotiate and manage complex legal documents such as contracts, correspondence, reports and other forms relating to non-litigation matters, and independently review and ensure customer contracts comply with company policies to best serve the business needs. This role is essential in coordinating and interacting with internal departments and external partners to gather all required contract information.
Please note: the standard daily hours for this opening are:
7 AM to 3 PM MST, 9 AM to 5 PM EST.
This is anticipated to be a long-term assignment, possibly lasting a year in duration.
Negotiating, writing and executing agreements and contracts on behalf of the company
Offering counsel on a variety of legal compliance topics
Advising the company team on key risk and compliance issues
Actively support functional leaders in bid process and contract negotiations with suppliers, customers, and other third parties
Proactively identify, evaluate, and address legal and compliance risks
Work with team leads to develop risk mitigation and/or corrective action plans, as appropriate
Prepare periodic updates for the GC and other leaders, as appropriate
Additional duties may be assigned
Required Skills and Experience:
Law degree (Juris Doctor) from an ABA accredited institution
Must have an active law license from ANY state, in good- standing. May not have any disciplinary history from ANY jurisdiction.
5+ years of legal experience in a law firm and/or in-house
Strong interpersonal and presentation skills, along with the ability to communicate effectively with others at all levels of the organization
Strong negotiation skills
Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships within the organization’s legal department across all businesses
Must be able to work independently, be self-motivated, self-disciplined, and results oriented, with an ability to manage priorities and substantial workflow in a fast-paced work environment with ever changing business and legal objectives.
Must be highly proficient with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
Must have a sense of urgency and ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of attention to details
Exceptional organizational skills and ability to prioritize
Nice to Have Skills/Experience: (A Plus!)
Chemical industry experience
Experience with contracts within a manufacturing/industrial environment
Prior experience with FDA or other product regulatory matters
